On July 29,2011, a “determination” letter was received from the IRS certifying Maryland Mufon as a nonprofit, federal tax-exempt corporation under the provisons of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Contributions to us are now  deductible under section 170 of the Code.  We are qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises and transfer of gifts under sections 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Code.  They also determined that we are a public charity.  Our effective date of exemption is July 22, 2009.
